Senator Miriam Defensor Santiago Suffering from Stage 4 Lung cancer

With all the courage that she has, Senator Miriam Defensor Santiago admitted to the public that she was diagnosed with Stage IV Lung Cancer.

After noticing and complaining of shortness of breath she went to the doctors to be examined and they found that there is a "genetic mutation" in her left lung that causes the problem that she has.

The cancer is not spreading throughout the other parts of her body. Therefore, the senator doesn't need to undergo chemotherapy but she will be taking "one tablet a day" to fight the disease.

The doctors couldn't find the reason how she got the disease. Sen. Miriam doesn't smoke or even drink.

After six months with the help of treatment, the doctors are expecting to ease up the disease. But if it not, she is considering going to Cedar-Sinai in Los Angeles for more treatment. 

Her sister is one of the doctors at Cedar-Sinai, the X-rays and CT scans of her lungs are constantly monitored by sending them to that particular hospital in United States.

She also stated that there is a huge possibility that she will survive the disease.

When she was making her statement in the press conference, it appears that Sen. Miriam was not afraid of her condition. In fact, it shows that she was thrilled by the disease.

And there was no sign of fear at all. She also stated that the disease she has right now will not affect her performance in the senate.
