A recent study shows that Quezon City and Manila are vulnerable to the big earthquake coming.
"The Big One" as they label it will be hitting the cities of Quezon City and Manila. The West Valley Fault had moved 4 times in the last 400 years. And the last movement occured 356 years ago.
Phivolcs, in association with Geosciences Australia estimates that the earthquake will hit at the magnitude of 7.2. The number of casualties that will be seriously injured is 148, 000 and 37, 000 people will be dead. The location that will be most raptured will be Metro Manila and Rizal.
Among the estimates, Quezon City will have 5, 524 dead people and 23,103 will be injured. And for Manila, 5,449 will die and 21, 620 will be seriously injured.
Shaking will not be the cause it. Collapsing houses and buildings will be the major reason why there will be casualties.
Earthquakes could not be prevented. Thus, the main thing that we could do is to be prepared for it. There is ample time to make sure that establishments are safe and strong enough when "The Big One" strikes.
