She was against the Annual Yulin's Dog Meat Festival. What she did was truly inspiring

As time passes by, the life of more than a million cats and dogs is set to be slaughtered and eaten as part of the tradition of Yulin's Dog Meat Festival in China Guangxi region. As expected, a lot of people are asking to stop the Festival and to save millions of cats and dogs. But then there's this old lady who stood up for everyone's concern.

Meet Yang Xiaoyun, a 65-year-old lady who travelled 1,500 miles away from her hometown with $8,000 in her hands, hoping to save hundreds of cats and dogs from being eaten for the Yulin's Dog Meat Festival.

Last year, she was able to raise $24,000 and was able to save dozens of cats and more than 400 dogs from being slaughtered in the 2014 Yulin's festival.

Yang Xiaoyun is a woman activist and also an animal lover. She had already adopted almost 3,000 dogs since her first campaign for animal rights in 1995.

According to Yang Xiaoyun, she doesn't just plan on saving the lives of the poor dogs and cats, but she's also planning on changing the mindset of the Yulin locals.

"I hope to start a dog breed center as well as a vegetarian restaurant in Yulin. I hope the locals can gradually accept our culture through them and learn to love dogs." Yang Xiaoyun said.

Millions and millions of dogs and cats were being slaughtered and eaten every Yulin's Dog eat Festival. People believe that it is a practice to defeat the evil spirits and diseases.
