Another achievement was gained by Philippines as Vigan City was hailed as one of the new 7 wonders Cities of the world.

On the night of December 7, the cities of Viga, Beirut, Doha, Durban, Havana, Kuala Lumpur, and La Paz was announce to be the cities who have won the poll on the New 7 wonder cities of the world.

According to Bernard Weber, the president and founder of New7Wonders competition, the contest was based on voting and the cities that has gained the most number of votes will be the winners of the 7 spots of the best new cities.

The top 7 cities are the following:
Beirut, Lebanon
Doha, Qatar
Durban, South Africa
Havana, Cuba
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
La Paz, Bolivia
Vigan, Philippines

220 countries were a part of the competition and more than 1,200 cities were nominated for the top spots.


Weber also said, "We congratulate each of these cities on achieving their New7Wonders status, and we look forward to celebrating their election to the 'canon of 7' with their citizens in 2015,”.
