Now, a statement from the patient himself was released.

In 2017, Valery Spiridonow will be the first man to undergo the first every head transplant as a treatment for his sickness. Valery is a 30-year-old, computer scientist who is suffering from rare muscle wasting disease called Werdnig-Hoffman.

This disease is terminal so he decided to volunteer to undergo the head transplant.
