Toni Gonzaga and Paul Soriano officially engaged

Actress Toni Gonzaga and Director Paul Soriano finally admits to public that they are officially engaged.

"Yes, we are engaged."

This was the answered that Paul threw in an interview that was made on the last episode of The Buzz. He revealed that the proposal happened on January 21 in the Gonzaga's residence in Rizal. It was the place that she did not expected that a proposal would happen.

According to Direk Paul,

“It was right after her birthday. It was like 12:30 a.m. January 21. We'd just come from a birthday dinner and I had the ring in my pocket the whole dinner. I just wanted to wait for the right private moment. It happened in her home, just very simple. She was in her pantulog already."

Before he made any plans of asking Toni, he first asked her parents for her hand in marriage.

“I was in tears. It was quite an emotional moment. Before we went up to her living room, I had to talk to Tito Bonoy and Tita Pinty and I showed them the ring. I said, ‘Do you mind po if I propose to Toni?’ And her mom was like, ‘Oh it’s about time.’ So that was nice. And the dad looks at me and said, ‘Why are you asking me? Ask her.’ That meant there was that blessing. I wanted to give honor to her parents first. We literally ran into her living room” he added.

The only witness in the proposal was the younger sister of Toni, Alex.

“Matutulog na ako, wala akong idea. Tapos mamaya pumanik si Paul. Bawal siya pumanik sa second floor. Kasama niya sila mommy and daddy. Paglabas ko sabi niya, ‘Where’s your sister? Call her.’ Paglabas na ni Catherine, sumimangot na siya. Tapos nagsalita na [si Paul]. Habang nagsasalita na siya, sabi ni Catherine, ‘Ay hindi, ay hindi.’ Tapos tumakbo si Alex so hindi siya natapos magsalita, hinabol pa ni [Paul]. ‘Catherine, go back!’ Sabi ni Alex, ‘Ayaw ko! Ayaw ko yan!’ Umeeksena pa si Alex. Tapos bumalik na siya. Tapos tumakbo na naman si Alex, hinabol na naman siya ni Paul. Tapos sinabihan na siya ng daddy na wag na tumakbo.” Toni said. 

“I just told her family -- I know they are only four -- I said, ‘I’m not here to take her away from you guys. I’m actually here to join you if that’s possible.’ When they hugged, I said this is one of the moments where you just have to cry. I just got down on my knee and I asked her if she will marry me. She said yes. Before I was done, I think halfway through the question pa lang, nag-yes na.”

The couple had been together for more than 7 years already and the fans had been waiting for this engagement for a long time now. They are planning for the marriage to happen within this year.
